Summer Theatre Camp for Kids

By Iron Horse Theatre Company (other events)

2 Dates Through Jun 30, 2025

ABOUT ABOUT

During this two-week camp at the Iron Horse Community Theatre, students will explore the fundamental building blocks of musical theatre (acting, singing, and choreography) and apply these skills through a performance for their family and friends at the end of the two-week session. Students in this program explore various acting techniques through a series of fun exercises that will help them establish a firm acting foundation. We will also provide some lessons in voice (singing) and choreographed dance as well. This program for young actors emphasizes the connection to both text and scene partners. With the guidance of our teachers, the students will spend their first week engaged in various improvisation games and formats. The second week of this workshop will encompass rehearsing from a script. Students will also prepare costumes, props, and technical needs, ensuring that their performance at the end of the two-week workshop is a success. Students will need to pack a lunch each day except the last day of each week (Friday July 4th and Friday July 11th). We will provide hot lunches on those days. We will also provide an Iron Horse Theatre Camp t-shirt to all theatre camp students.

This two-week (Monday through Friday) camp begins Monday, June 30th and concludes Friday, July 11th. The camp runs from 10am to 2pm each day with a lunch break around noon (except the final Friday: 4:30 pm – 8:30pm). This year’s camp theme is Shrek Jr.. We will be rehearsing scenes and songs from this very popular and entertaining musical.

We will have a one-hour performance on the last day camp (Friday July 11th from 7:30pm to 8:30pm) that demonstrates the growth and skills of the young actors.

Cost of the two-week camp is only $300.00 per student ($150.00 per week).
